
During the upcoming academic year, 2009-2010, the departments of Civil & Environmental, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering will prepare for their ABET accreditation.
ABET is the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Accreditation Assures Quality. In the United States, accreditation is a non-governmental, peer-review process that assures the quality of the postsecondary education students receive. Educational institutions or programs volunteer to undergo this review periodically to determine if certain criteria are being met. Please note: Our School of Computer Science completed their accreditation evaluation successfully in August of 2008; receiving the maximum renewal –through the year 2014. The computer science accrediting body is the ABET, Inc. the Computing Accreditation Commission.
UNLV’s Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering Construction Management Program also received their accreditation evaluation in August 2008, receiving the maximum renewal as well. The American Council for Construction Management (ACCE) is charged with the evaluation of such programs.
